Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Hold a valid KS CDL license (Class B, 29,000 lbs. weight vehicle) with Passenger Endorsement and School Bus Endorsement.
2) Demonstrate the ability to pick up 50 lbs. (Approximate maximum weight of pre-school child.)
3) Ability to work well with school staff and parents.
4) First Aid and CPR certification.
5) Defensive Driving certified.
6) Successful completion of the pre-employment background check, physical, and driver’s license check
7) Subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
8) Successful completion of district training program.
REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor and Superintendent of Schools, USD #337
JOB GOAL: To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s curriculum and extracurricular programs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obeys all traffic laws.
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
- Reports undisciplined students to the proper building authority and parents.
- Keeps assigned bus washed and clean.
- Keeps to assigned schedule.
- Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
- Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
- Discharges students only at authorized stops.
- Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
- Transports only authorized students.
- Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
- Enforces school regulations on the bus.
- Maintains contact with parents of route students.
- Attends all required meetings.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten, eleven, or twelve month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated yearly by the Transportation Supervisor with input from the building administration and Superintendent.
