Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS: 1) Has the required number of college hours or has passed the test
required for paraprofessionals.
2) Demonstrates ability to work with students and adult personnel.
3) Able to follow work schedules and work independently without direct
supervision.
4) Demonstrates sound judgment.
5) Maintains confidentiality of all student and school related information.
6) Exhibits a positive attitude.
REPORTS TO: Classroom Teacher(s) and Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To assist the teacher in achieving teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve skill levels to their fullest potential.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with transitions and other routines throughout the day such as lining up, setting up activities, center time and cleanup.
- Models appropriate behaviors for the children such as quiet voice while inside and respectfully handling inappropriate behaviors by following classroom policies.
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Demonstrates good work habits such as having good attendance and being prompt on time.
- Takes suggestions from team members and other support staff in a mature manner.
- Assists the teacher in administering, scoring and recording assessments as the teacher recommends for individual students.
- Performs other duties as requested by the teacher or administrator.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Royal Valley school year calendar. Works only on days that school is in session.
